The materials collected here encompass an extensive catalogue of audio and audio-visual media, images and text, including personal recollections and memories of people and places, anecdotes and reflections, documents such as photographs and maps from historic quarters across the region, as well as segments of sound and music. With some minor exceptions, all the material, both audio and audio-visual, has been collected in the local language and/or vernacular. Excerpts from a selection of interviews have subsequently been transcribed into both the local language and English, and can be found in the database.
The material has been arranged both thematically and geographically, although the website enables you to navigate via multiple points of access. Before entering the database, we recommend that you take the on-line site tour, by clicking on the button at the left of the page.
